AirPair System - Network Management System (NMS)

The AirPair system has a number of features to enable simple integration in a Network Management System (NMS). AirPair can be managed both remotely and locally and is designed with flexible, carrier grade management requirements in mind. Using industry standard and proprietary MIBs to monitor radio and network parameters, AirPair integrates directly into any SNMP management environment. Management traffic may be carried in-band directly or optionally over an 802.1q VLAN. Remote software download is available on all systems.

Remote management is available “in-band”, meaning that special cables and network configurations such as dial up modems are not required. All management traffic can be carried over the GigE/1000bT connector, which also carries customer Ethernet traffic.

AirPair supports SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, RFC1213 and enterprise MIBs. The AirPair MIB is simply compiled into any SNMP compliant management system. Generic SNMP Traps and AirPair specific Traps are supported. We have implemented a number of SNMP security features.

Secure management of AirPair is enhanced through the use of the VLAN tagging (802.1Q) capability in AirPair. AirPair also requires usernames and passwords, further adding to a more secure management environment.

The enterprise AirPair MIB is an optimized MIB definition allowing Network Administrators to have full access to system information.
