Overview
Specifically designed to offer high capacity transport of SONET/SDH and IP data, the Pinnacle line of microwave radios is perfect for wireless mobile infrastructures, broadband corporate LAN and Internet networks, as well as high-capacity backhaul of LMDS and point-to-multipoint systems. As part of an integrated microwave solutions family of products, Pinnacle offers a compelling combination of high capacity data and narrow bandwidth within the higher frequency bands. The ability to increase capacity to 155 mbps or 311 Mbps within existing 28 MHz channels is a significant factor during network overbuilds or the transition from 2G to 3G. The Pinnacle’s small size and ease of installation allows operators and system managers to quickly deploy their network and begin to generate revenue. The wide variety of plug-in module interfaces are available that can easily be changed in the field to meet changing network topologies. Features And Benefits Versatility The Pinnacle radios can operate within a wide variety of existing networks to give service providers greater flexibility to offer integrated solutions. These include traditional ATM and SONET/SDH based systems. Pinnacle radios also address the increasingly popular "Broadband IP" systems such as LANs, WANs, Internet providers, and business networks. Last-mile spur access and cell based network back haul are other popular applications for the Pinnacle radios. Superior System Gain Using advanced digital signal encoding and forward error correction (FEC), the Pinnacle radios offer one of the highest system gains in the industry. The added gain is essential to allow longer and more robust paths with increased system availability as well as lower site and antenna costs. Rapid Deployment Typical installations require less than three hours per terminal. A small 1RU Indoor unit is connected to an outdoor RF unit/antenna assembly using a single coaxial cable. The operator is able to set frequency and power levels, loop back tributaries and test bit error rates, as well as provision the terminal for remote access; all available locally or from an SNMP based element manager. Reliable Operation Highly integrated MMIC, DSP, and flash technologies extend reliability by increasing the MTBF. Protected configurations (with either one or two antennas) help prevent outages due to equipment failure on critical paths.
