LINE & PORT SHARING UNITS

Port Sharing Units connect four or eight terminal devices or communications controllers to a single modem, CSU/DSU or computer port in a polled communication system environment. You can cascade the units to link additional terminals or controllers. Applications range from simple modem or router sharing to true front end processor port sharing

MODEL 1710

Model 1710 is a full featured port and line sharing device, that is able to rephase the receiving clock and data sources to provide extremely reliable tail circuit operations. Easily accessible switches on the front panel allow you to set speeds, program RTS/CTS delay and direct the master clock to any of the five ports. All interfaces are V.35 (M-34 female) connectors and operate at 56 or 64Kbps on internal clock, up to 1.544 Mbps on external clock. Model 1710 allows up to 4 terminal devices on tail circuits (modems or CSU/DSU) to share a single port, modem or CSU/DSU operating in a multi-point, polled, system environment. Cascade the 1710's to provide additional terminal connections.

Model 1720, 1721, 1731

The Model 1720, 1721, and 1731 Line Sharing Units provide immediate system expansion without the need to acquire additional computer ports, modems or data lines. These units allow four or eight polled synchronous or asynchronous devices to use one modem or CSU/DSU. When an address poll is received, the Line Sharing Unit will broadcast to all terminals or controllers. The first terminal or controller to raise RTS (Request to Send) in answer to a poll will be selected and all others will be denied access until RTS is lowered. Model 1720 interfaces with V.35 (M-34 female) connectors and both Model 1721 and Model 1731 interface with RS-232 (DB25) connectors.

Model 1700, 1701

Model 1700 and 1701 Port Sharing Units are equipped with internal clock generation that shares four terminal devices direct connections through a single port on a front end communication processor. These units can be cascaded to increase the number of devices that will share the CPU port. The unit's CPU port is switchable from DTE to DCE and is equipped to generate all clock, data and control interchange signals required in a polled, synchronous system environment. Programming is easily accomplished via switches on the rear panel. By switching the external clock, these versatile devices will operate in the identical manner as the Model 1720 and 1721. Model 1700 interfaces with V.35 (M-34 female) connectors and Model 1701 interfaces with RS-232 (DB25 female) connectors.
